Dr Richard Ross

Hand trauma

Hand injuries occur every day in Australia, frequently resulting in significant time off work or lifestyle activities. Prompt treatment is essential to good outcomes.

Many patients just want help with a particular part of their appearance, but don’t really know how to approach it. And that’s exactly what the initial consultation is about.

Richard has extensive experience in all aspects of hand trauma, including tendon injuries, fractures, peripheral nerve and microvascular surgery. All hand surgery patients are recommended to see an experienced hand therapist and take part in a personalised hand rehabilitation program.

Many hand surgery cases can be conducted as day cases, however some, such as infections or complex reconstructions may require longer inpatient admission. For best outcomes (and general health) Richard strongly recommends cessation of smoking.
