Dupuytren’s contracture is a common progressive condition affecting the tissues of the palm and fingers. It results in a characteristic painless flexion contracture that develops over time and may eventually become debilitating. The primary treatment for this is often surgery. Richard has extensive experience in management of Dupuytren’s contracture, including up-to-date understanding of minimally invasive techniques such as percutaneous needle aponeurotomy which may be undertaken in the rooms under local anaesthetic alone.
As with all hand surgery, Richard strongly recommends a multi-disciplinary approach with involvement of an experienced hand therapist for best results.
