Brow lift

A brow lift is a procedure designed to address a heavy or descended brow and forehead. Patients may experience this as a tired, angry or scowling appearance.

To maintain patient privacy, some results are available for viewing in-person only.

Many patients just want help with a particular part of their appearance, but don’t really know how to approach it. And that’s exactly what the initial consultation is about.

If the brow descends far enough, it can impact our field of vision, and the body activates frontalis muscle subconsciously to help hold the brow up. This can create a strained appearance, and possibly even frontal headaches due to the continued frontalis activation.

A brow lift procedure aims to:

  • Stabilise the brow in the best anatomical position for facial harmony.
  • Improve the shape of the lateral brow, and any impact this may have on the upper eyelid.

This addresses the effects of gravity on the face with age by:

  • Dividing deep adhesion points and repositioning the layers under skin.
  • Careful resection of excess skin
  • Placing scars behind the hairline.

The lateral temporal lift aims to raise the lateral brow and reduce deep lines on the lateral forehead. This can be useful in conjunction with upper eyelid blepharoplasty or facelift procedures, as many signs of ageing do not occur in isolation. Modifications to the lateral brow lift may include the gliding brow lift or extension to a full brow lift.

Typically, brow lifts offer modest improvements when viewed as a stand-alone procedure, with variable duration of outcome. However, these procedures are best appreciated in the context of rejuvenation across the entire face and neck. In this way, the brow lift completes the picture, rather than leaving a heavy brow against a rejuvenated face and eyelids.
